Unlike other systems, Safetech protects workers who are unconscious or injured, even if no one else sees what happens. Anyone working near the conveyor area wears a Safetech Tag Belt, which contains two miniature transponders. The belts are light, comfortable and easy to wear. The transponder pouches are visually distinctive to help safety enforcement.

A zone of protection is provided by the transmitting loop surrounding the incline section of the conveyor. If someone wearing a tag belt passes through the loop, a signal is instantly sent to the Safetech Control System, which sounds an alarm and activates the emergency stop procedure. It can also send a signal to a remote control room or security post.

There are numerous failsafe devices built into the system. The conveyor and other equipment cannot be started unless the Safetech System is activated. The internal circuitry continuously monitors electronic components and back-up systems, should they fail, the unit shuts down and sounds an alarm.
